San Augustine Mugshot Record Basics
A mugshot is the photograph made during a booking or correctional identification process. It documents that event. It does not prove guilt, current custody, or later release. Once a person leaves the San Augustine County Jail, the photo can remain part of the agency record even though there is no public local page displaying it.
Texas Government Code Chapter 552 governs requests for existing government records. A booking photograph should be requested as a discrete record tied to a specific booking. Some information can be withheld or redacted under law, including protected juvenile, victim, security, or active-investigation material. If an office withholds the image, ask it to identify the legal basis rather than assuming all Texas booking photos are always open or always closed.
Use a booking number, date, and other lawful identifiers when possible. A same-name photo from a search engine may belong to another person or an earlier event. The release record, court case, and photo should all point to the same custody episode.

No source should be treated as proof of release merely because it displays a photo. The sheriff release sheet and court disposition establish the local event. TDCJ status and release records establish the state event.
No San Augustine Mugshot App
The San Augustine County Sheriff's official page has no roster, recent-release tab, booking-detail page, mugshot gallery, app-store link, or social release feed. No verified app-only photo function was found. NCIC appears only as the jail's communications provider for current inmate calls and account funding. It is not a mugshot search or custody database.
This negative finding prevents a common error. An unofficial page may use the county name or repeat old booking data, but that does not make it a sheriff publication. Do not substitute a commercial gallery for an agency source. For releases from the local jail, use the Sheriff's Office at 219 N. Harrison and ask for the named booking photo and release sheet.
The absence of a gallery also means there is no official post-release photo retention window to quote. A photo may remain in an internal record even though it was never posted online. Ask the custodian about the specific record, applicable retention rule, and legal basis if it is unavailable.
Request San Augustine Booking Photos
A focused request is easier to process than a broad demand. Ask for an existing electronic booking photograph linked to one known custody episode. Include enough detail to distinguish the person without placing sensitive identifiers in a public message.
- Identify the full name, booking date range, and booking or SO number if known.

- Request electronic format and state a clear date range.
- If the office expects charges, ask for a written estimate before copies are made.

The county posts no dedicated request form, records email, local photo fee, turnaround promise, or photo-removal policy. Texas law requires prompt handling, but “promptly” is not a universal ten-business-day production deadline. San Augustine TDCJ Photo Route
A county booking photograph and a TDCJ departmental identification photograph are different records. TDCJ's free general inmate-information email service does not supply photos. TDCJ policy ED-02.40, however, treats departmental identification photographs as public records available by request, subject to applicable exceptions. Use a targeted formal Public Information Act request rather than expecting the general email service to attach one.
This route applies only if the person entered TDCJ custody. It does not cover everyone booked at San Augustine County Jail. Provide the TDCJ number when known, the full name, and a precise description of the identification photo sought. TDCJ accepts PIA requests at PIA@tdcj.texas.gov and by mail at PO Box 4017, Huntsville, TX 77342.
The DPS public sex-offender registry is narrower still. The official Texas registry search may show a color photo only for someone with a current statutory duty to register.
San Augustine Photos Beyond Agencies
Local news or an official press release may preserve an arrest image. Publication is selective. An arrest story cannot establish that the person was later released, and an image caption may omit the booking number needed to separate similar names. Use it only as a lead, then confirm the image with the sheriff and the later event with release and court records.
Commercial mugshot or jail-roster publishers may also surface in search results. They can be old, misidentify a person, merge bookings, or fail to show a later disposition. No such publisher is linked or endorsed here. Never pay merely because a site claims that payment is the only path to correction. First identify the originating record and determine whether the issue is an agency error, a lawful public record, or a record affected by a court order.
Search engines can retain thumbnails after a source changes. A cached image is not a government record and has no custody value. Record the source, booking date, and agency before drawing any conclusion.
San Augustine Mugshot Removal Law
Texas Business and Commerce Code Chapter 109 addresses certain criminal-record publishers that charge $150 or more, accept other consideration for removal, charge to correct or modify information, or publish confidential juvenile material. It contains statutory exceptions. The law does not create a universal right to erase every accurate official booking photo.
Expunction and nondisclosure are also case-specific court processes. Release by itself triggers neither. A court order may affect what covered agencies or publishers can disclose, but its effect depends on the order, the record, and the entity holding it. Send a certified order through the proper legal route and obtain advice about enforcement rather than relying on a commercial removal promise.
An inaccurate source record and an accurate record affected by a later legal order need different responses. For a wrong booking date, image, or release code, identify the exact booking and send the controlling record to the agency that owns the field. For an expunction or nondisclosure order, provide a certified copy through the process that applies to each covered holder. A clerk cannot change a judge's order on request, and a search engine cannot correct the sheriff's source file.
